The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the Savannah
Harbor Deepening was last set to be released on October 27, 2008.
This release date has been delayed and no new release date has
been given.
The Draft EIS is a report issued by the Army Corps of Engineers
which looks at the anticipated environmental impacts of the project,
and proposed mitigation for these impacts. The Draft EIS is accompanied
by a General Reevaluation Report (GRR), which will include studies
on the anticipated economic impacts of the project.
Once the Draft EIS is released, the public has 60 days in which
to submit comments to the Army Corps of Engineers. We will be
posting a link to the Draft EIS and GRR as soon as it is available,
with instructions on the comment procedures.
